Welcome to Top Profs Doing Top Prof Things.
This blog serves as a record of the development and execution of a class Dr. Lindsey Kolette Roper (Biology) and I, Dr. Kristopher Phillips (Philosophy), are offering at Southern Utah University. This integrated and immersive endeavor offers a general-education level introduction to biology and philosophy through the sustained study of different aspects of sports entertainment. The class is a six-credit, double Gen-Ed course aimed at freshmen students at SUU and is on the books for the spring semester of 2021.
Here we aim to share how we came up with the idea for the class, how we pitched, planned, marketed, and executed the class. We will include materials we develop, projects we assign, the syllabus, and other resources with the hope of inspiring more interdisciplinary teaching across colleges.
