Big News: Guest Lectures

What's up jabronis? I wanted to touch base because we have huge news regarding the course. I'm thrilled to announce that we have two very special guest lecturers lined up for the fall.

First, I'm out of my mind excited to announce that Eileen O'Hara (Melody Trouble Vixen of GLOW!!!) has reached out to us about delivering a guest lecture. As I'm sure you know, GLOW (the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling) was the first ever all women's wrestling show, and has led to a dramatized Netflix series of the same name. That we will have the opportunity to talk to one of

the original wrestlers is truly amazing!

Also make sure you check out her podcast, "Wrestling with Your Friend" (https://www.buzzsprout.com/1296635) anywhere you get your podcasts.

Second, I'm thrilled to introduce Dr. John Torrey.

John Torrey is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy and a contributing professor in the Africana Studies unit at SUNY Buffalo State. He holds a BA in Philosophy and Spanish from Morehouse College and an MA and Ph. D in Philosophy from the University of Memphis. His research interests

are in the intersection of social and political philosophy and African-American philosophy, specifically how social recognition affects moral and political deliberations regarding calls for Black reparations in America; applied ethics, and pre-college philosophy. He has published on the theoretical underpinnings of Black Lives Matter and on doing precollege philosophy, and was featured on the UnMute Podcast in 2020. He also has developed precollege philosophy programs since 2010, including the July 2019 Buffalo State Lyceum, and currently serves on the board of PLATO (Philosophy Learning and Teaching Organization). He also streams playing WWE 2k on YouTube under the name “Mr. Philosopher 3” and has been a lifelong fan of professional wrestling, with favorites including Mr. Perfect, Ultimate Warrior, Dean Malenko, Eddie Guerrero, Bret Hart, Mark Henry, Kurt Angle, AJ Styles, Daniel Bryan, Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels, Undertaker, CM Punk, The Rock, Steve Austin, The New Day, Booker T, Chris Jericho, and many more.

This class is going to be a truly amazing experience.
